Standards 4 & 5: Organizes Space, Time, and Interaction
The organization of my classroom and the way it is run is very important to me as an instructor. It is the determinant as to how successful my class will go, as well as the success of my students. As an educator, it is my responsibility to make sure to align space, time and interaction in order to give my students the best possible experience while learning English. The first abstract is two pictures of how my classroom is set up. In the front of the classroom, I often use a projector to incorporate the technology I use. Behind me on the bulletin board are examples of student work that is exemplary and displayed as such. On the door are student grade reports to show grades and class averages and progress. The picture of my classroom is how it has been set up for the duration of the year. I utilize the “U” shape in order to foster dialogue and a comfortable environment for students to have discussion and express ideas. The second abstract is the groupthink Prezi for the lesson referenced in Standard 1. Using technology, particularly something such as Prezi, is engaging for students, and even inspired them to create their own when they had to do their own research presentations. This particular lesson also referenced and utilized three YouTube videos of psychology experiments that were examined by the classes in reference to the literary No Disrespect unit. Using my time wisely and every minute from bell to bell has also aided in reaching this standard, as well as cutting down on classroom management issues.
