Camp Erin - Detroit
I work with Henry Ford Health Systems' program Sandcastles, which offers counseling as well as a weekend long camp for kids 5-18 who are dealing with the loss of a family member. Camp Erin-Detroit is just 1 of 23 camps nation-wide created by the Moyer Foundation. I was a volunteer photographer at the 2011 Detroit camp, and my job was to document the weekend in video and photos and create a slideshow to present to the parents on the last day. I have since been working with their Public Relations department to produce a video to gain donations to keep the program going. The strength of the kids was truly inspiring, and to be able to interact with these kids and hear their stories was truly amazing.
Volunteers Assisting the Disabled
I work with Volunteers Assisting the Disabled (VAD) as camp photographer as well as an organization board member (with a specialization in Public Relations). VAD in a south-eastern based non-profit organization and was created in 1988 in order to provide a camp for adults (ages 18+) with Muscular Dystrophy, for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) can only afford to provide camp to children ages 6-18. VAD receives no government funding, and runs solely on the efforts and money raised by the approximately 100 members who attend camp. I am camp photographer, so my duties include documenting the experience as well as preparing a slideshow for the end of the week, as well as creating other Public Relations videos to send out for donations and running the Facebook page. Below is the video sent out for 2010 to recruit donations.
